Membership


Maryland MGMA has over 630 members state-wide. Our members represent over 375 medical practices and 5,145 physicians. Over 64% of our membership is from private practice, 28% from an academic affiliated practice and 8% from an Ambulatory Surgical or Community Health Center. Maryland MGMA members cross all clinical specialties.

Our members span the staffing levels of medical practice staff as follows:

  • 12% CEO/Partner
  • 16% Vice President/Director
  • 18% Practice Administrator
  • 27% Practice/Office/Billing Manager
  • 11% Billing and Collections Staff
  • 16% Physicians, Financial Professionals, Consultants and Office Support

Geographically, our members work in the Greater Metropolitan Baltimore Area with 34% in Baltimore County, 22% in Baltimore City, 12% in Anne Arundel County and 17% in Montgomery, Prince George, Harford and Howard Counties.


Classification of Membership
Membership in Maryland MGMA is individual not organizational and is not transferable. The membership year is from January 1 to December 31. Our membership fee includes registration to each Reimbursement Meeting, Practice Operations Meeting and Executive Forum.

We have four classes of membership. They are: Medical Practice, Business Associate, Faculty and Student each defined as:

  • Medical Practice: Any individual who is employed by, or an owner of,  an entity providing health care services.

  • Business Associate: Any individual who is employed by, or an owner of, any entity providing goods or support services to a health care provider.

  • Faculty: Any individual with a full-time academic appointment at an accredited institution of higher learning including community colleges, universities, technical colleges, postgraduate or fellowship programs.

  • Student: Any individual enrolled full time as a student in a degree program at an accredited institution of higher learning including community colleges, universities, technical colleges, postgraduate or fellowship programs.
