MediNews
The Maryland MGMA newsletter, MediNews, is published six times per year and is distributed to all Maryland MGMA members. MediNews is THE source for medical practice information. The due date for content and advertisements is listed on our web site calendar.
The Maryland MGMA Communications & External Relations Committee welcomes articles for publication in our newsletter, MediNews. Articles must contain information with significance and relevance to medical practices. An Advisory Panel makes final determination on the publication of an article.
There are three types of articles accepted: Feature Article, Informational Article and Ask an Expert. An author whose work is printed will receive a complimentary copy of MediNews in which the article appears. All articles are to be submitted in MS Word or similar format to our Executive Director.
A feature article will appear at the start of the newsletter and have the cover photo tied into it. The article can be about personal performance, professional development or practice management. It must be no greater than two pages of text [approximately 1,400 words]. The article cannot be an explicit promotion of a company, product or service. It can be a case study and include relevant information about a product line [as compared to a specific product]. SPECIFICATIONS: Approximately 1,400 words; Title; Author's name; Author's practice/company, title, and any certification; Brief biography with contact information; A clear and digital head shot.
An informational article is considered to be half to one full page in size and relevant to the business side of practice management. For example, an update on Retirement Plans, Payer Updates, ADA, e-Prescribing, Vendor Relationships. SPECIFICATIONS: Approximately 700 words; Title; Author's name; Author's practice/company, title, and any certification; Brief biography with contact information; A clear and digital head shot.
Typically, these half-page articles are provided by professionals in the fields of accounting, banking, finance, legal, compliance, and coding who receive questions from medical practice professionals, or who know medical practice professionals who are 'afraid to ask'. A series of four to six questions with a response should be submitted. SPECIFICATIONS: Subject area; Author's name; Author's practice/company, title, and any certification; Brief biography with contact information; A clear and digital head shot.
